Most of the time, the OLTP database is not suitable for reporting purposes in terms of query
response time and ease of programming. The OLTP database structure needs to be transformed
in order to provide the best response time as possible when querying the data for
reporting purposes. Usually, the reporting database is read-only for reporting, while its
data are updated through DTS/SSIS processes, either by batch or upon requests from the
administrators.
