OLTP stands for Online Transaction Processing. It is basically the database where the data will be loaded from a customized loading application (ETL Tool) and/or mass data loading processes. It is crucial that the database is secured in terms of:
- Concurrent access (several access to the same data at the same time), specially in writing/updating modes
- Data integrity: Data shall never be duplicated and shall remain consistent
- Access rights: Writing privileges shall be granted only to administrators of the loading processes
