To be applied for disconnected datasets and essentially for the acquisition of historical data, this 3BI solution includes a set of processes and tools to format, clean and harmonize data prior to integration and loading into the central OLTP data repository.
Analysis and profiling

This 3BI solution is the first part of the work required for a complete integration
of disconnected datasets in order to build a comprehensive Marketing Intelligence System.
This phase is key as it will drive the development of many other elements of the
solution, especially the design of the different data repositories.
The Analysis and profiling phase includes a series of pre-defined steps to determine
the required variables and members of the various datasets that will be part of the
integrated database, to prepare the acquisition of the historical data and to develop
the design of the database:
- Analysis step1: User requirements study to validate the business objectives
of the database integration project.
- Analysis step2: Review of the different datasets to define the variables and members
according to the business objectives. Find out the barriers to the database integration
(gaps in terms of variables, historical data availability, etc) and propose solutions to
close
these gaps.
- Analysis step3: Translation of the business objectives of the project into
business specifications for the development of the data model (database schema).
- Profiling step1: Harmonization of the different datasets through a full mapping
of the chosen global variables and members.
- Profiling step2: Formatting / cleansing of the historical data in line with
the chosen global variables and members.
